34 Weeks!!!

Well, it's hard to believe, but we are 34 weeks as of today.  Just 6 more weeks until we get to meet our sweet girl.  According to the baby website we follow and the book from mom, Willie is likely 5 and a half pounds and a foot and a half long right now.  AMAZING!  It seems like just yesterday that we were having our first ultrasound and wondering when my belly might pop or whether she might be a boy or a girl. And now look at us.  Such good stuff.  She's scooting around in my belly as I type. I hope she's as excited to meet us as we are to meet her. :)

Showered with Love

We were so blessed and honored to be showered with love and goodies for Willie on Sept 16 & 17. Thanks so much to our family, friends, and my co-workers for all the generosity and love.  It was a wonderful weekend and we were so glad that my mom and sister and my fabulous Troublemint were here in town to celebrate.  Willie, you are a loved and lucky little girl.  We ALL can't wait to meet you!

Lots and lots of delicious baking

Welcome Willie! :)
Paper pacifier straws... YES :)
Fabulous dessert spread, thanks to my wonderful sister & mama

Never enough desserts or pictures of desserts, right?!
So grateful for all the goodies for Willie and is this an awesome diaper cake, or what?!

Thanks EVERYONE!!! :)

Willie's Playlist

Music means so much to me. So for now, until our girl arrives and decides her own musical tastes, I'll be the DJ.  I'm pretty sure she digs most everything I'm into.  She was scooting around in my belly to Radiohead for sure today at work...
  • Morning Mr Magpie - Radiohead
  • Here Comes the Sun Again - M. Ward
  • Beach Baby - Bon Iver
  • The Colored Night - Blind Pilot (Soon to be Willie's second concert, come 10/7/11)

It's a Baby/Beer!

Here's a few things I know for certain. (1) I love all things vintage and funky, while my hubby loves all things beer.  (2) I can credit my burgeoning belly to our beautiful baby girl growing inside me, while my hubby can credit his adorable belly to well, you guessed it, beer. :)  So, what better way to document our 32nd week than a photo that highlights both of our beautiful bellies?!  Enter my lovely new etsy friend Alex who has an amazing collection of vintage items including vintage wooden letter blocks.  You can find them @ Vintage by Alex Keller. I contacted Alex randomly a few weeks ago and asked if she could hunt down blocks for 'baby' and 'beer' and within a few short days, we had the adorable blocks in our hands.  We took the pics this weekend, while we had some of our wonderful family and friends in town for our baby shower.  Here is the finished product... :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR BACON BABY!!!

Bacon girl (our boxer) is 4 years young today. We celebrated with a new bunny toy and a peanut butter banana puppy ice cream sundae.  Good stuff.  Love you silly girl.  You'll always be our first baby girl. :)

There's a class for that...

Baby class/lamaze/cradle class (whatever you'd like to refer to it works for me) started last night for us.  WHOA.  Just one more wide eyes open awakening that we're ALMOST there.  There were lots of new things to learn even just in the first night, lots of love and support and massages from Daddy (the teacher requires it...YES!).  I think labor will put my finely tuned yoga cleansing breath to good use.  All in all, it was good stuff. But I gotta say the model of the pelvis with a baby doll squeezed in, sitting in the front of the classroom taunting me all night was a scary sight. I think my hubby may have lost some of the skin on his knee cap from me squeezing tightly while we watched a video of 3 ladies going through labor (start to finish).  Whoa!

That's two whoa's in one post.  Here's one more WHOA for good measure and odd #'s.  Nighty night. :)

I totally fell for the Missoni for Target hype...

I'm totally fascinated by the Missoni for Target madness happening today.

I had to go check it all out and scored a few goodies at my local stores. (I hit up two after work and there was not much left.  Craziness.)  But most importantly, I got the onesie for Willie.  Woo Hoo!!! :)  It's MUCH cuter in person.

"From behind, you don't even look pregnant." :)

Just watched the season finale of Entourage.  Johnny Drama is a kook and a half, but he made me laugh out loud louder than I have in a long time.  He provided E with this advice... He said something to the effect of... no matter what, always remember to say "from behind, you don't even look pregnant." Too funny. Just like most women, I have my share of body issues, but I'm actually loving my pregnant body.  Although I am clumsier than all get out, definitely sharing many brain cells with the kiddo, could do w/o these monsters on my chest, and apparently I now have a little super human strength kickin.  I randomly broke a glass today by just slamming it into the cabinet door for no apparent reason.  Weird.  Luckily no humans or animals (or my peanut butter and pineapple jelly sandwich) were harmed. Just another "normal" day in pregnant lady land. :)

In 2 months, we'll be PARENTS!!! OMG. WHAT?! &%$!!!!

9/11/11 was an important and reflective day for 2 reasons.  Today was a somber day as it was the 10 year anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.  We will never forget the innocent people who lost their lives and we will always be grateful for our freedom, blessings, and safety as Americans.  Today was also an eye opening day in the Schuh household because if all goes as planned, we'll be welcoming our Wilhelmina Grace in exactly 2 months. WHOA!!! Where the heck did the time go???

11/11/11 is speeding closer and closer every day. :) In the last two weekends we've gotten a lot of work done on the nursery.  It's still a work in progress, but here's some of the big accomplishments....

As always, our fearless leader/supervisor/QA specialist was in the nursery overseeing all recent work. :)
This is the chandelier mom & I found @ Patina http://www.manta.com/c/mvrcbn4/patina.  I finally sat down and cleaned the crystals and prepped it for hanging.
It was pretty dirty!
Clean and hanging (tucked out of the way for baby's safety, of course)  YAY!!!
We hung our gorgeous Joba original this weekend.  We love Joe's work.  This is our 4th piece in the house.  Check out his website!!!
Here is the chandelier up with our lovely gold clock (another downtown Melbourne find) and our fab Black Baroque http://www.etsy.com/people/BlackBaroque art prints up over the changing table.  I'll be adding one more art print later this week that got lost in the mail :(.
A little less glow... :) (Can you tell I really love this chandelier?! Hubby's not too keen on it, but I think he's OK now that it's tucked out of the way of the changing table.

One more of the glorious chandelier
I found this rather large W @ Jo-Ann Fabrics the other day and got inspired.  With all my random fabric and paper, this made sense.  This will hang over the crib with some other lovelies. Yay, more color!
The Dude assisted with this project
Big decorated W up close
I spent ALOT of time wrapping this hemp yarn around the top. Thank goodness I bought extra hot glue.

Last, but not least, I'm using the rocker that my mom used for my sister and I and it originally came from my Grandma. I love it and this is the original fabric, but I decided to switch it up.
I'm no upholsterer and this is absolutely not upholstery fabric either, but it will work for a while.
I love how worn out the arms are on this rocker.  Lots of love here!

Done! :)  Now I've used just about all of the fabric and then some from Mama Said Sew in Fort Collins. It's spread throughout the entire nursery.  http://www.mamasaidsew.com/mss-wp/
So happy the vintage trim I bought got put to good use too.  http://www.mamasaidsew.com/mss-wp/

Still lives with cantaloupe :)

Here we are @ week 30. Growing, growing, growing and feeling good. LOVE it! :)

Labor Day Nursery Labor!

B supervising assembly of the changing table.

Can't get enough of Willie's name banner I made. Thanks to laybabylay.com & pinterest.com for inspiration for this idea!

The dude is getting in on the supervising, although he mostly prefers the kick ass hiding places in the nursery with all of the boxes.

More B supervision

Love the focus & concentration in this one

She's got it covered! :)

Changing table is complete! Yet another pinterest.com inspired idea!  It's an IKEA Expedit bookcase http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70103085 with some legs http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00054564 for extra height to be sure to be @ the right height for changing poopy diapers. :)

As much as I like to pretend that I've got a plan and got things covered, my hubby's always looking out for me. I was determined to keep the crib on the other wall, but he encouraged me to rearrange and I love the way it looks.

Got lots to do with this, but you get the idea.

Love our Phil & Ted's nest from Grandma S from Pout in Fargo http://www.poutbabyboutique.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?display=home

So love this lamp.  Got an amazing deal on it at one of our favorite shops in Melbourne http://www.manta.com/c/mvrcbn4/patina, had it rewired and it's good to go. It even has a nightlight in the center!

Here is the crib in it's new location with it's fab handmade crib skirt.

I had planned to tackle making the crib skirt myself. But when I found this lovely lady http://www.etsy.com/people/babycribtoddlersheet and she only charged me $26 (including shipping!) to make this perfectly pleated skirt, I couldn't resist.

The clock against the wall is another lovely find that my mom & I spotted @ one of her favorite antique store in Melbourne.

These beautiful and unique art prints are going up just as soon as I fancy up some plain white IKEA frames. You must check out Black Baroque's etsy.com site http://www.etsy.com/people/BlackBaroque for more amazing art prints.  Alexandra & her dog Poni have to be the friendliest sellers on etsy.com! I have one more print on the way with seashells.  Totally reminds me of being a kid in Florida!

Nursery... Slowly but Surely

Getting ready to paint!!!
B girl organizing all of the paint supplies.

Paint chip! Sherwin Williams - Gris! No one tell hubby that that's French for gray. Ha!

We have mad taping skillz.

Room is painted. Now it's time to put the crib together!

Success! Hubby with a well deserved beer after a big weekend of nursery painting and crib construction.
