Week 35

Me @ Week 35

Week 35 was super busy and super fun.  Aunt Alicia was in town so we got to hang out, shop, and see one of my favorite bands (twice), Blind Pilot.  Then hubby and I headed out for a quick overnight trip to one of our favorite places, Austin!

First we got to see a free Blind Pilot show @ Cactus Records.  Notice my kickass, front row pregnant lady seats. :)
Then we did a little shopping.  Baby Gap is DANGEROUS!!!  And they need to consider designing for adults with the same mindset that they do for kiddos.  They could totally make a fortune!
Then we met up with Hubby for a yummy dinner @ Reef and headed over to the big show.  Dan Mangan opened and was great and Blind Pilot was, of course, wonderful as always!
It was a late night for Willie and I, but so worth it. We chatted with the band afterwards and got them to sign a poster for her nursery.  The drummer does all their tour posters and this one is PERFECT for her room.  More pics of that at the end of the weekend when the room is complete! :)
After we woke up and realized we are way too old for 2am nights (regardless of whether I'm pregnant or not - HA!) we hit the road for Austin on Saturday.  I saw on Facebook that 512 Brewing was having a free anniversary party/tour. So we decided to swing in when we got into town.  We were so happy we did.  Scott tried some awesome special edition beers and we met some great people too (including 512's head brewer and his awesome girlfriend Amber and the owner of Maui Brewing and his wife).  We will definitely be back for another tour sometime soon.
We did a little shopping while @ 512 and got Willie some 512 gear of her own. She can wear it when we visit next!
A cask conditioned beer that hubby got to try!

We stopped in for lunch @ Frank in downtown Austin.  Part of my whole motivation for this quick visit was, honestly, food.  :)  Austin is known for so many wonderful things and as far as I'm concerned food is definitely one of them.  So we stopped at Frank because I'd heard good things and had been wanting to try it.  I promise we didn't finish all of this messy goodness, but it was yummy!
Ahhh, our home away from home for the evening, the W Austin http://www.whotelaustin.com/.  It was just as lovely as I'd hoped it would be and a nice escape for us.
W mini bars are always entertaining compared to the standard mini bar fare... right down to the safe sex kit complete with mints.
The room was complete with a Japanese soaking tub. Although we did have to make a call to engineering to get the tub to fill correctly at first.  (what is it with me and fancy hotel tubs???)
Getting ready to head out for a delicious dinner @ La Condesa http://www.lacondesaaustin.com/ (another fave!), dessert @ Gourdough's, and a stop off at Ginger Man http://gingermanpub.com/ for a beer for you know who. This is our favorite Ginger Man for sure.

Austin is well known for their plentiful abundance of food trailers.  You never know what you'll find.  But as soon as I heard of Gourdough's gourmet donuts trailer http://www.gourdoughs.com, we HAD to go.  And boy was it just as good, if not better than we expected!
Even if you never make it to Gourdough's or donuts just aren't your thing, at least check out their website and giggle at the silly names for all the donuts. ODB, Mother Clucker, Blue Balls, etc... :)

Our selections... The Puddin' (cream filled banana pudding donut) and Flying Pig (maple glazed donut with bacon on top)
Had to get a belly shot in front of the cool wallpaper in our room and one in front of Whole Food's pumpkin patch...
On our way out of town on Sunday morning, we hit our fave breakfast spot Magnolia http://themagnoliacafe.com/ (neptunian landscape!), shopped at some of my fave shops on S. Congress (Uncommon Objects http://uncommonobjects.com/ and Maya Star http://www.mayastar.com/) and hit up the yummy goodness that is Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.  I got my recent favorite strawberry cream tea latte for the road and used my belly as a drink rest on the start of the ride home. :)
