Soooo I thoroughly enjoyed being pregnant. I really can't say that there was any part of it that I absolutely hated. Sure, it's strange and uncomfortable and does crazy things to your body and in turn to your loved ones and people in your general vicinity. But overall, I found all of it to be amazing. What a privilege to grow a life inside of you and then 9 months later share it's sweet soul and spirit with the world.
Of course with pregnancy comes weight gain. My dr didn't seem too concerned with how much I gained although I did feel that I was growing by the second. I really did try to eat well, but I definitely didn't sweat my weight much. I didn't have too many crazy cravings, but garlic pepperoncinis, lots of milk, mauna loa chocolate covered macadamias and outback steakhouse delicacies were among some of my faves.
Needless to say, I gained some weight. And thankfully I didn't panic when W had made her appearance and the weight was basically still there. Even though I was breastfeeding every 2 hours, the weight didn't fall off in a Hollywood minute. I honestly wasn't sweating it too much. But when my 6 week postpartum check up occurred and the weight hadn't budged, I knew I had to get motivated.
Thanks to my Mom's gentle nudging, I joined Weight watchers at the end of December. They offer a great plan for breastfeeding moms that allows you to slowly lose the weight. And I'm happy to report that as of today I'm down FIFTY (50) pounds! That's the 45 pounds of baby weight and five more! I'm 6 pounds from my goal weight I set with weight watchers too. I still need to get into better exercise habits. Once this busy time at work ends this week, I'll get on it.
And hopefully it goes without saying that the main goal is making sure W gets all the nourishment she needs. As you can see from her recent pics, we are good there! The pediatrician jokes that there's bluebell ice cream flowin out of me. :)
I've posted a couple before pics.. As in just before I had W. I'll post an after once I hit my goal weight. :)
